Schooling: From the day she attended her first match, Natalie was smitten with the sport of Quidditch. She can still remember the first game, it was between the Chudley Cannons and the Holyhead Harpies, she was six, and she spent most of the game watching from her father's shoulders. Throughout her years at Hogwarts, that never changed, she would always wake up excited every game day, and go full out in Gryffindor colors, because she had to show some house pride. As a first year, she watched excitedly from the sidelines, soaking up every moment, and in her second year she actually tried for the team. She didn't make the cut though, and instead resigned herself to helping the team where ever she could. Eventually, the title of announcer was handed down to her from Seamus Finnigan just before she began her sixth year, and up until she graduated, she took her role very seriously.
Aside from her adoration for the game, Natalie was a very good student. She received nearly straight O's on her OWL's and again on her NEWT's. Despite her smarts, she didn't have many friends, she had her closest friend Victoria, who was also one of her roommates,

I don't know when I made Jason's I changed where it said Niki Cole to Jason Samuels...
ReplyDeleteMine didn't? When I sign on to google it still says Niki Cole
ReplyDeleteK NOSE GOES SUCKERRR. Also jordan's almost done with class so i don't know how long I can do something
ReplyDeleteJason had fallen into a set schedule for game days and rarely did they go astray. He woke up bright and early and started his morning out with a run around his neighborhood, proceeding with a shower, and had breakfast (three over easy eggs, a buttered English muffin smothered with crunchy peanut butter, four slices of thick-cut smoked bacon, some type of fruit, and a cup of black coffee with two teaspoons of sugar). He quickly changed into his warm up uniform, flung his quidditch bag over his left shoulder, and kissed Erin goodbye on the cheek.
ReplyDelete"Samuels, hurry and get changed, you've got a guest up in the press box." Austin Atwood shouted as soon as Jason walked into the locker room.
"Is it that ginger?" Fionn Callaghan interrupted with a smirk, nudging the player next to him with his elbow, "She a bit of a fit bird, wouldn't mind tradin' an interview for a snog with her."
"Keep playing like shit and you'll never get an interview to have the chance, will you?" Jason countered with a smirk and raised eyebrow before tossing his bag on a bench and slipping his green jersey over his head, making sure to give Fionn a pat on the shoulder before heading out.
He knocked on the door lightly before turning the handle and pushing it open. "I'm suppose to be getting interviewed?" Jason said aloud, catching the reporter with her back towards him. "I'm Jason Sam-."
He quickly cleared his throat and took a seat in front of her. "Do I put my hands together? Maybe I should put them in my lap, but that'll make you look like a girl. Put them flat on the table. No that's awkward. Okay I'll just cross my arms. Now I look pissed. " He thought, setting back in his chair and settling for his first option. "So-uh-where do we start?" Jason asked awkardly, squirming in his chair slightly.
ReplyDelete"...Interesting." He finally spoke after coming to a conclusion about what word to use. "Ever since my days at Hogwarts I've looked up to Oliver Wood- well, you know that, since we dated-I mean you knew me-I mean we were friends, er, yeah." He mumbled, tripping over his own words when he started to think about Hogwarts. "Where was I?"
ReplyDelete"Well, yes, and I'm grateful for the opportunity, but to leave the team with the star player I've looked up to since my first year for one of their rival teams. I've grown to love my new home, but it's difficult being away from my friends and family and my fiancee..." He fumbled at the end, clearing his throat.
ReplyDeleteHe pursed his lips in through, rubbing his hands together. "I guess I would say that we'll have to wait and see. I think trying new tactics is how you find bigger and better ways to do things. The Kestral's could be riding the broom end of success right now. How independent and successful could someone be if they just listen to what they're told should be the way to do something? Not very much." He gulped slightly, fairly certain he just called himself unsuccessful and dependent for choosing what everyone else told him to do in Hogwarts regarding Erin. How had that turned out for him? Engaged at nineteen to a girl he put up with for his family's sake, still engaged at twenty-three, and neither his parent's or Erin supported him at events unless it involved publicity.
ReplyDelete"If Darren O'Hare didn't step out of the norm and arrange the formation we call a hawkshead attacking, we'd still be play one-on-one attacks." He countered. "We'd be bored of quidditch by now if we played everything by the same ways of the first game, and you'd be out of a job."
ReplyDelete"Well yes, but that's how you find out if you're good at a particular one or not. Some people have preferences, that may have not been their first style they tried. It all comes back to being open minded, that's what sets me and my teammates apart from the rest of the quidditch players out there." He stated, starting to feel a bit pressured.
ReplyDeleteHe stood up, his lips pursed together as he pushed in his chair. Jason ran his hand through his short hair and down the nape of his neck and turned towards the door before turning back around. "Look, Natalie. I'm sure I'll be seeing you around more, and you'll obviously be seeing me. This isn't going to work for either one of our careers if we have built up angst with each other, so maybe we should just find a way to put that aside? I think I can speak for both of us when I say our jobs are what means the most to us at this time, and neither of us can afford to lose them."
ReplyDeleteHe put his hands up in defense, "Fine, fine. Don't say I didn't try to fix things then, Natalie." He stated, pulling the door open and beginning to step out before he stopped, "For merlin's sake, Nat. We were kids. In school. Kids fuck up." He mumbled, patting the door frame slightly before walking out.
ReplyDeleteANNND SCENE.
Hogwarts? So they can feel some love?
ReplyDeleteObviously Rita will print something. And after I think.
ReplyDeleteJason walked in to the hall, two of his roommates on each side of him as they joked on about the prior night. With one having his shirt untucked and the other with rather messy hair that clearly didn't see a comb this morning, Jason, naturally, looked nearly perfect, except for the tight tension that was holding his shoulders higher than normal.
ReplyDelete"I'll, uh, catch up with you guys back in the common room." He interrupted the conversation, making slight eye contact with Natalie from across the hall.
As they continued to the Ravenclaw table, he let out a sigh and turned towards the table, digging his hands deep on his pockets, hoping that if he weight himself down that he could avoid the conversation that was about to happen.
"Natalie," He interrupted Tori slightly, "Can-Could we talk outside?"
He sat down next to her on the bench, scraping his brain for the right flow of words before letting a sigh slip out slowly and resting his weight with his elbows on his knees.
ReplyDelete"I don't regret anything about the dance," He started, a slight tremble in his voice. "Matter of fact, I'd give just about anything to do it all again, but..." Jason dry gulped, pressing his hands together until the skin turned white. He knew he was about to ruin one of the best things would ever happen to him, but he also knew it was the right thing to do. "But I don't know how practical this," Jason motioned between Natalie and himself with his pointer finger, "is for us, you know?"
"We... we want different things after graduating." He started with, thinking that would be easier to swallow than 'my parents expect me to marry someone else'. "We're expected to do different things. This can't work with those." He let out a long sigh, he was not good when girls got emotional, and especially when they started to hold back tears. "Come on, Nat, we knew this going in, we just didn't think about it."
ReplyDeleteHe stood up with her, grabbing her hand. "I-I thought if we pushed it away it wouldn't come back up. I thought, with being so close to graduation, they'd give me more space but it's like they've planned out every moment of my life from that day on and my thoughts aren't an option. There is so much pressure riding on me, to do absolutely everything right, to not screw it all up, I can't leave my parents to dry, they've had this plan for me since I was a kid." He tried to explain, starting to trip over his own words.
ReplyDelete"Natalie, you know that's not true." He bargained with her, moving closer as he started to lose all the strength in his voice. "I meant what I said, and I wouldn't change a word if it, but we both know I can't just abandon the life I have set out for me. We knew this wasn't going to last and we both let it get too far out of control." He pressed his lips tightly together as he could physically see every word he said hurt her more. "Nat I care for you more than I've ever cared for anyone else, but this will never work out."
ReplyDelete"This has been planned out my whole life. I can't just change it last minute, Nat. I don't expect you to understand it, but my family needs this. This is how it's always been." Jason sighed, "I don't want to lose you, we just can't be together."
ReplyDelete"I'm sorry." He mumbled, knowing it wouldn't help anything. Jason stuck his hands in his pockets and let his eyes fall to his feet. "I'm sorry." He mumbled again, taking a few steps back.
ReplyDeleteIt never failed to amaze Jason that after weeks of straight practicing and games back to back, Erin couldn't understand that on his days off he wanted to do nothing more than sit back and relax in their home. He reluctantly let her drag him to Diagon Alley that day, his feet dragging with every step down the old, filthy bricks that lined the street between the shops. Erin pushed her way through the crowded areas in front of him, making her own way to the shops that seemed to interest her. Eventually Jason lost her in the crowd. He let out a deep sigh through the crack of his lips before shoving his hands in his pockets and continuing on his own way, peering into stores that caught his attention. A little while later, he exited Quality Quidditch Supplies, a bag in hand of a few miscellaneous items he need for game day, and peered at the remaining stores at the end of the street before making his way to his favorite store of them all.
ReplyDelete"Uh.. a scoop of chocolate chili and a scoop of salted caramel blondie, please." He said with a smile to the lady behind the counter as he patiently waited for her to hand him the cup of ice cream before taking a seat outside.
Jason caught sight of her red hair as she exited the shop, and smirked slightly. "So do you still hate me?" He asked, making sure it was loud enough that she heard.
ReplyDelete"Natalie," he said, shoveling a spoonful in his mouth. "It was forever ago, com'mon, I was a kid. We're adults now. The least we could be is civil to each other." Jason motioned to the seat across from him. "Sit down, will you? I realize I didn't do it in the best way, but I can't do anything about it now, are you really going to hold that against me forever?"
ReplyDelete"It's a strong possibility but I'll take the chance." He shot back with a smirk, enjoying another bite before speaking. "So what kind of pressure and stress causes Natalie McDonald to break down for not one scoop, but two scoops of brownie batter? I don't know that I ever saw her that bad at Hogwarts..."
ReplyDeleteHe choked slightly on his ice cream. "Did you just insinuate that my job isn't stressful? You remember what I do... Right?" He let out a light laugh.
ReplyDelete"You shouldn't let her get to you, you know." He muttered through a bite. "That's her job, if you let her do it, she wins. Plus, everyone knows how she is. Does Rita Skeeter really have any followers?"
ReplyDelete[ oops i forgot about erin hahaha xD ]
ReplyDeleteJason choked slightly on his ice cream as he quickly jumped to his feet. "Uh, Erin, you remember Natalie McDonald, right? We went to school together. She was in Gryffindor." He cleared quickly.
She pursed her lips together as she looked off in thought for a moment. "Oh," She finally spoke, "You're the one who did an article on Jason a few weeks ago! You're work for the Daily Prophet. Is she annoying you, Jason? You know you don't have to answer her questions if the meeting hasn't been approved by your team. You have no obligation to answer them-"
"-No. We were just catching up. just talking." He corrected quietly, looking awkwardly between Erin and Natalie.
